Loreto schools across Australia remain the responsibility of the IBVM. The Institute takes special care to ensure the Gospel emphasis as experienced through the charism of Mary Ward and Ignatius remains strong in these schools.
Structurally, this national network has been linked through a Loreto Education Board, which supports the maintenance of the charism, and oversees plans, projects, and finances of the schools and advises the provincial on these matters. In 2006 this board was restructured as the Ward-d'Houet Education Board, after the founders of the IBVM and the Faithful Companions of Jesus (FCJ) sisters. It now performs the above functions for both the Loreto and FCJ provincials.
Professor Roslyn Arnold, Professor of Education at the University of Tasmania (pictured above) is Chair of this Board, and Sr Julianna Drobik OP is the Executive Officer.
