About JPIC

Our Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) work consists of an international network of Loreto Sisters and their colleagues working for a more just and equitable society.

Through JPIC, the Loreto Sisters have made a commitment to:

  • promote the dignity and liberation of all, particularly of women and children

  • challenge unjust systems and structures

  • stand with those on the edges of society

  • show reverent care for the earth and all creation.

JPIC Coordinators representing Loreto provinces from every continent in the world met in Rome in September 2005 (pictured above) to find ways of making justice, peace and integrity of creation integral to IBVM life and ministry. Together they are committed to promoting and supporting the United Nations (UN) Millennium Development Goals.

Our JPIC goals

  • To develop initiatives for the Australian province, which inform and stimulate reflection on issues of justice, while encouraging active engagement in local, national and international efforts to promote justice peace and the integrity of creation.
  • To develop processes for individual and group reflection and action on issues of justice, peace and integrity of creation.
  • To collaborate with international Institute initiatives in justice, peace and the integrity of creation.
  • To promote an understanding of the meaning of justice in the Mary Ward tradition.
  • To develop structures to enable this committee to achieve its goals.
  • To advocate for the achievement of the UN Millennium Development Goals.

“In a world on inequality and oppression we stand with those exploited in any way by unjust systems and structures. Of particular concern to us are injustices that prevent women and men from becoming fully and freely the human persons God created them to be.”
