Biographic Dictionary Project

Loreto Australia continues its history project to record the story of Loreto in Australia.
Part of this project involved the commissioning of a narrative history of the years since 1875 when the first group of sisters arrived from Ireland. “Loreto in Australia” by Mary Ryllis Clark, published by the University of New South Wales Press is now available for purchase.
To complement the history a Biographical Dictionary is also envisaged. The aim of this publication is to record the individual stories of everyone who has been a member of the IBVM Loreto Sisters in Australia. In this volume we will address those whose lives span the first 125 years: 1875 to 2000.
You are invited to contribute one or more articles on a Loreto Sister for whom you have a particular knowledge and affection. These contributions will be subject to editing by the appointed editor.
Three lists of past IBVM Loreto Sisters are provided below. One list is arranged alphabetically by surname with some details, one is by date of death and the third is arranged by place of burial.
Further biographical information can be obtained from Loreto Province Archives.
