Mary Ward International Australia
Mary Ward International Australia (MWIA) is part of the global MWI network supporting the Loreto Sisters’ justice and development work.
MWIA creates opportunities for individuals, groups and networks to collaborate with our Australian and international missions for justice and development. This occurs through:
- building partnerships and working together to achieve change
- seeking funding bodies and sustainable funding options
- advocating and lobbying for access to education
- raising awareness about important social justice issues
- educating and empowering individuals and communities to take action
- encouraging groups to fundraise and make donations
- promoting volunteering as a way of contributing.
“I have always greatly admired Mary Ward’s ability to think beyond the constraints of the society and church structure she lived in and conceive a more just society. I think this calls us to constantly be challenging the inherent prejudices in our community that we have come to accept or ignore”.
Georgette, MWIA volunteer
The MWIA Board of Driectors and its Advisory Committee identify works and projects in need of support. This occurs through a structured grant application process. MWIA facilitates the equitable distribution of resources to projects that are holistic, community empowering, sustainable and effectively evaluated.
