Louise, MWIA volunteer

You can help us make a difference with:

Loreto India studentsEducation and awareness

Education and developing social awareness is an important part of any fundraising event. We will be happy to provide you with information and contacts to our various ministries and programs around the world to encourage your group or students to find out more about the social issues in a particular country. Consider the benefits of your group or school becoming a partner to a particular project for three to four years. Build a relationship and see the difference your support can make.

Policy on Child Sponsorship

The Loreto Sisters do not favour child sponsorship as a way of raising money, as the focus tends to be on one child or one family rather than empowering communities or responding to community needs. Focus on a specific individual or family can limit the effectiveness of the funding. The Loreto Sisters support funding principles which provide opportunities for whole communities to become self–sustaining. Digging wells, training teachers, equipping clinics, supporting community gardens and running a variety of training programmes enables whole communities to grow and develop.

Our recent events have included a film night with the screening of 'The First Grader' and a viewing of the "Winter Masterpieces Vienna Art and Design" at the National Gallery of Victoria.

Our next event is the inaugural Listen Talk Act Series: Indigenous Conversations at The Auditorium, Loreto Kirribilli 85 Carabella St, Kirribilli, on 26 March 2012.The Conversations will focus on the Constitutional recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
and the value of education for Indigenous peoples. They will be led by Mick Gooda, Renee Coffey and Jane Kemp. Kathryn Greiner AO will act as moderator.

Bequests

Making a Will is an important thing to do - it gives you the opportunity to safeguard what is important to you and how you want your assets to be managed.  It is important to see your legal advisor before you make arrangements to make a bequest to Mary Ward International Australia Charitable Trust.
