Join our sisters

In Australia, at the core of our "circle of friends", are over 100 women united as one province, yet spread across this land and beyond. Drawn by a sense of God's call in our lives, and attracted by the ground-breaking insights of our founder, Mary Ward, we vow lives of service within the Catholic Church.

"Be involved in the St Ignatius discernment process, make sure you are entering for all the right reasons and keep your sense of humour."

This sustains us in our own journeys, and animates our ministries. We are linked through local communities, with common priorities and a leadership structure that facilitates "a union of hearts and minds".

Every life journey is an individual one, and before any decision to join religious life, there will be a period of enquiry, a chance for both you and the Loreto Sisters to get to know each other.

You apply to become a candidate when you are ready to make that step. Being a candidate means that while you continue your normal life: job, study, friends, independence,  you take a much closer look at the Loreto Sisters' life, work and spirit; living for some of this period with a community, to see if it suits you.

"It is a life where happiness springs from the fact that it is a life following God's call."
Bernadette Greene ibvm
